Multipurpose vehicles
Transports
Road/rail transport vehicles carry personnel, tools or materials for railway work. Different base vehicles and bodies are used according to the intended load and transport task. Personnel transport and material transport require different layouts and should be considered separately when selecting a vehicle.
Examples include seating configurations, double cabs, load platforms, skip loaders and vehicles with semi-trailer couplings. The seating figures shown below refer to example configurations; they are not a common specification for every vehicle. Available payload and equipment must be clarified for the selected version.

Planning the vehicle configuration
State how many people need to travel and which materials or tools must be carried. Include load dimensions and weights, loading and unloading arrangements, and intended operating routes. This provides a basis for discussing the cab, body and loading equipment together.
